Request term-time leave
Please click on the link to complete a form requesting leave during term time.
For your information:
- Government guidance states that schools are not permitted to grant any leave of absence unless there are exceptional circumstances.
- Exceptional circumstances are important events where the dates are not under your control. e.g. death or terminal illness of a close relative; wedding or funeral of a close relative; graduation ceremony of an immediate family member; or religious observance
- A holiday (even if booked in error) would not be considered exceptional circumstances. Therefore, this will be recorded as unauthorised absence. For holiday absences of 4 days or more, a penalty notice is also likely to follow from Trafford Council.
- Penalty Notices from Trafford Council are per parent, per child for holidays or other unauthorised leave taken during term times. From August 2024, these are £80 if paid within 21 days or £160 if paid within 28 days.
- Please be assured that we do sympathise with the higher cost of holidays outside of term time. However, there are many families who do choose to pay this, rather than take their child out of school. The system of penalty notices is in place to provide some fairness for those families.
- Finally.......honesty is always the best policy. If you are taking a holiday during term-time, please just tell us - the children won't be able to hide it on their return to school anyway!
