Design & Technology
We are future engineers, architects, designers and chefs at St Margaret Ward.
We teach Design and Technology to develop children’s skills and knowledge in design, structures, mechanisms, electrical control and a range of materials, including food.
It encourages children's creativity and encourages them to think about important issues. It provides an opportunity to identify a problem and design and make a functional product based on a design brief.
Through the teaching of DT, children are encouraged to share ideas and communicate with their peers to discuss how objects are designed and made. They are given opportunities to work collaboratively to create products that they can test and evaluate.
Our Design & Technology Policy (click on the link) gives more detail about how the subject is taught at St Margaret Ward.
In addition, below is the long-term plan for Design & Technology taught in the different year groups.
